Gugulethu Sofia Mbatha is more known by her stage name and screen name Gugu Mbatha Raw. Her popularity grew for her role in the BBC Science Fiction TV show Doctor Who. Chelsea Joy Handler was conceived on the 25th of February, 1975 and was born in Livingston New Jersey. Handler was the first child born in a large family. Handler was the daughter of a car salesman as well as a domestic worker. Her mother immigrated from Germany into America. United States as a young woman in 1958. Handler was diagnosed with cancer of the breast in 1989. Handler's dad is Jewish and she was raised to Reform Judaism. Handler enjoyed a happy good, healthy and safe childhood in a good neighbourhood. When she was 19 she relocated to Los Angeles to pursue her acting profession. Handler worked as an actor in order to support herself. When she turned aged 21, Handler decided to pursue the stand-up comic profession full-time, as she was able to discover her storytelling talents. Handler started her stand-up career on her role on the Oxygen Network's Girls Behaving badly the reality series that featured a hidden-camera/practical comedy. The series ran between 2002 and 2005. The host then appeared in other programs such as Weekends at the D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler was a part of The Tonight Show for a time as a reporter. Handler got her first major break when she hosted her E! Show in 2006. Named The Chelsea Handler show. The show ran for a total of two seasons. Handler was a part of Comedy Central's Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour the next year throughout the United States. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend and HBO broadcast her stand-up comedy performance. In 2010 she was selected to host the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. With this, she became the second woman in history to host the VMA's following Roseanne Barr.
